Lesson 22 - Voicemail












Hi all!

For today's lesson, we're going to talk about telecommunication.  

Do you know what the word telecommunication means?  Well, tele means "over a distance," so if you see a word with tele in it, it means something that is done over a distance.  And of course you know the word communication (้€šไฟก tsuushin).  So the word telecommunication is tele + communication = telecommunication, or communication over a distance.  

Here are some words with tele in them:

1.๐Ÿ‘‡ telescope (to see something over a distance









2. ๐Ÿ‘‡ television (to watch something over a distance)

3. ๐Ÿ‘‡ telephone (to talk with someone over a distance)












4. ๐Ÿ‘‡ Teletubbies (Well, I don't know how they got their name!๐Ÿ˜‚)









and of course...

5. ๐Ÿ‘‡ telecommunication (to communicate over a distance)









By the way, telecommunication means ้›ปๆฐ—้€šไฟก (denki tsuushin) in Japanese.

Next, let's talk about what functions (ๆฉŸ่ƒฝ kinลyou have on your smartphone and your landline (ๅ›บๅฎš้›ป่ฉฑ kotei-denwa).  By the way, do you have a landline?  Some people don't use them anymore.

On your smartphone, do you have voicemail (ใƒœใ‚คใ‚นใƒกใƒผใƒซ) function?









On your landline, do you have voicemail or an answering machine (็•™ๅฎˆ็•ช้›ป่ฉฑ rusuban denwa) function?
